Zerowriter Ink Is Shipping!

Zerowriter Ink Is Shipping!

Here's what you should know:

The first 100 units of Zerowriter Ink are incoming to Crowd Supply's warehouse in the USA. This means the first batch of Zerowriter Inks are likely to be out for delivery by the middle of the month.

As a disclaimer: this is my understanding of the fulfillment situation, and as Crowd Supply is handling the logistics, they may have to operate differently than how I’ve outlined here. This blog is meant to keep you in the know.

If you are in a country that has tariffs against Croatia, Crowd Supply will likely be connecting with you to collect fees related to the delivery. As of posting this blog, the United States has a 15% tariff on Croatian goods, which translates to around $25-30.

If you are in a country without tariffs against Croatia, your order should move through the fulfillment chain without any impact or additional fees.

Crowd Supply is handling the last leg fulfillment. You'll get a dispatch notice when it is in en route to you, and you'll have the ability to change your address and all that good stuff in some capacity. You’ll get a copy of the invoice, and all that stuff via their systems.

They also are handling customer support related to getting your stuff. They are very good at logistics, and I suspect issues will be few and far between.

I have submitted an update to Crowd Supply that details more of what to expect. They are going through some adjustments so that update has been delayed. I do not have the ability to post updates on Crowd Supply, so I wanted to write a summary so people aren't in the dark.

When am I getting mine?

The plan is to fulfill around 150 units per month until fulfillment completes - which would take us to around December.

They are being fulfilled in a FIFO (first-in, first-out) style, so the people who backed and ordered the earliest will get their devices first.

What can I expect out of the box?

Also, make sure you have some sort of USB SD card reader! They are very cheap on Amazon or similar if you don't have one handy.

Keep in mind that this is indie hardware, and you can expect some minor cosmetic imperfections due to how the enclosures are made and assembled. Of course, I want you to love it. If you aren't happy with yours, let me know, and I'll make you another enclosure.

How can I update the software?

It's very easy to install new firmware on your Zerowriter Ink - you just drag a file on to your SD card.

When are the design files going to be released?

I'm going to release the design files in chunks over the next few months, in respect to everyone who pre-purchased and waited so patiently. It would be unfair to have people building their own units before those who paid upfront got to enjoy theirs.

That said, I am going to release the enclosure design files and some technical documentation. The full software release will be in a few months.

Cool images!

Yeah! Thank you to the team at Soldered. They have really treated this product as one of their own, and are helping to make sure everyone loves theirs. I cannot speak highly enough about their team, and their support and encouragement as I pursued this project.
