Zerowriter Link
Back up the writing on your Zerowriter to your own Google Drive. Over your Wi-Fi, with no Zerowriter servers, and no subscription.
Available on Zerowriter FoldWhat Zerowriter Link does
Zerowriter Link is the Google Drive connection built into Zerowriter word processors. When you choose Sync Now on your device, it copies the text files you've written to a folder called ZerowriterBackups in your Google Drive. It's an optional backup tool.
One-way backup
Files go from your Zerowriter to Drive. Nothing outside the backup folder is ever read or changed.
You start every sync
Uploads only happen when you press Sync Now, or automatically when you save or sleep your device.
Straight to Google
Your device sends directly to Google. Your files and account never pass through Zerowriter servers.
Minimal permissions
Zerowriter Link can only see the files you send.
How to connect
- Set up Wi-Fi on your Zerowriter Fold.
- In Settings, turn Drive Sync on, then choose Sync Now.
- Your Zerowriter shows a web address (google.com/device) and a short code. On your phone or computer, open that address, sign in to Google, and enter the code.
- Google shows you exactly what Zerowriter Link is asking for. Approve it, and your device finishes the sync on its own.
You sign in on your own phone or computer, so you never type your Google password on your Zerowriter. After the first time, Sync Now uploads whenever you like. New files are added, and files with the same name are updated with your latest version.
What Link asks Google for, and why
Zerowriter Link requests a single Google permission: drive.file. Google describes it as access to "only the specific Google Drive files you use with this app." Link uses it to:
| Action | Why |
|---|---|
| Create the ZerowriterBackups folder | So your backups live in one place you can find. |
| Look up files in that folder by name | So a second sync updates your existing copy instead of making a duplicate. |
| Upload and update text files | To copy your writing from the SD card to Drive. |
Link can't see, open, or change any other file in your Drive. It doesn't ask for your name, email address, contacts, or any other Google service, and it never downloads files from your Drive to your device.
Your privacy
Zerowriter doesn't run a server for Link. Your device signs in with Google and uploads to Google Drive directly, over encrypted connections. We never receive your files, your Google account details, or your sign-in tokens. The sign-in your device needs to sync is stored on the device itself.
We don't sell, share, or use your data for advertising or AI training. Read the full Zerowriter Link Privacy Policy for the details.
Disconnecting
- On your Zerowriter. In Settings, under Storage, choose Reauthorize Drive. This deletes the saved sign-in from your device.
- In your Google Account. Remove Zerowriter Link at myaccount.google.com/connections. Your device can no longer upload to Google after that.
Backups already in your Google Drive stay there until you delete them.
